Types of Care Homes

Care homes provide:

  • accommodation
  • meals
  • assistance with personal care 24hrs/day

There are two main types of care homes:

1.Care Homes without Nursing Care (Residential Care)

If the person has any nursing needs, assistance may be provided by the District Nursing Service visiting whenever they are needed.

2.Care Homes with Nursing Care(Nursing Care)

​Qualified nursing staff are on duty 24 hours per day.

Both types of care are split by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) by:

age:

  • 0-17
  • 18-65
  • Over 65

and

needs:

  • Dementia/Alzheimers(sometimes known as EMI)
  • Substance Abuse
  • Eating Disorders
  • Mental Health
  • Learning Disability
  • Physical Disability
  • Sensory Disability
