There are a number of sheltered and supported housing schemes in the borough.
These are ideal for people aged 55+ or whom might have a need for this type of accommodation, for example people with a Learning Disability.
It is independent living in a comfortable, vibrant and secure environment offering you the opportunity to socialise and get involved with leisure activities when you choose.
The accommodation is self-contained with:
- one or two bedrooms
- a lounge, or a bed-sitting room
- bathroom facilities
Some properties have a Scheme Manager to ensure the smooth running of the building and support the residents where possible.
For added peace of mind, there is a 24 hour alarm service that enables residents to summon help in an emergency.
This is monitored by the Scheme manager or, when they are not on duty, by CareCall who provide a mobile warden response 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.
The sheltered accommodation owned by the Council and other properties in Newham are managed by other local Housing Associations, or Registered Social Landlords (RSLs).
You can contact the local Housing Associations or Registered Social Landlords (RSLs) directly. They will also be able to give you details of suitable accommodation available in your chosen area.
